WHEN pupils return to Westbury Junior School after the Easter holidays it will be to a new headteacher.
The existing head, Robert Watt, 55, has left after 13 years.
Mr Watt said: "Obviously I have very mixed feelings.
"On the one hand I'm looking forward to retirement but I will miss the children and the tremendous support I have had from the staff, parents and governors."
Mr Watt plans to take at least six months off to spend more time with his wife, Nicky, and to indulge his love of fishing and boating.
After that he may work part time or as a supply teacher, but he also plans to enjoy some extra free time.
"I would like to do things that I want to do while I still can.
"I have enjoyed my time at the school immensely and I will miss seeing the stream of children coming into the school but now is the right time to move on."
Staff and pupils gathered to say goodbye to Mr Watt at a special assembly on Friday, where he was presented with farewell gifts.
He said: "I have been overwhelmed by everyone's generosity.
"They have all been wonderful and it is really appreciated."
Taking over from Mr Watt at the beginning of next term will be Richard Hatt, who will be moving from a school in Somerset.
