THESE are the two faces of Emma Finney the soprano and the administrator.

By day, Emma works as an administrator for West Wiltshire District Council but at night and weekends she is practising her singing in her determined goal to be an international soloist.

The talented soprano took a part-time job with West Wiltshire District Council to fund her singing lessons, which led to her now full-time employment.

Miss Finney, of Bratton, was the soloist supporting the Ynysowen Male Choir at the Trowbridge Lions Club fund raising concert on Saturday night.

The 23-year-old recently graduated from Cardiff University with a degree in music and has performed at numerous concerts in Wales and the west country, including the Aberfan-based Ynysowen choir.

The former pupil at Matravers School in Westbury said: "I've wanted to be a singer as long as I can remember and my goal is to be an international soloist."

Miss Finney, who speaks several languages, sang some of her songs in German and received praise from the choir's musical director, Jennifer Jones.

She said: "Emma is a very talented young lady and she is very special to us. She loves her music and as long as there is music in the world then we will all have fun"

The finale of the evening was when Emma joined the choir in singing a rousing rendition of My Eyes Have Seen The Glory.

This was the seventh appearance for the choir in Trowbridge, with 38 of the 50-strong membership singing in the St James Church venue.

In the 33 years since its formation, the choir has performed all over the country and Europe, and gives its services free for any worthy cause.

Saturday night's concert, organised by the Trowbridge Lions, raised enough money to send six single parent families on holiday.
