MID-WILTSHIRE SUNDAY LEAGUE: SELECTABOOK secured their place in the final of the Tamura Hinchley Shield with a 6-1 success over Netheravon on Sunday 24 March.
The league leaders survived an early onslaught and both Mark Lowe and Tom Adams came close to opening the scoring for Netheravon before Paul Machin put the bookmen in front following a fine team move.
Andy Davies converted Kevin Whitbread's free kick to double the lead before the break and Jamie Gale made it three for Selectabook in the second half.
Dave Jewitt pulled a goal back from the spot for Netheravon after he was upended inside the area by Nick Lemon, but Whitbread soon restored Selectabook's three-goal advantage when he drilled home from the edge of the area.
Marcus Wallen's late brace of goals took Selectabook safely through to the final, where they will face either The Dolphin or Devizes Snooker Club.
Trowbridge Wanderers eased into the second round of the Roundway Cup with a 7-0 victory over the league's bottom club, Linpac.
Both sides were guilty of squandering chances in front of goal early on, but Wanderers eventually broke the deadlock through Dave Jones on 40 minutes.
Dave Melin was then brought down inside the area on the stroke of half time, giving Nick Harrison the chance to score his side's second goal from the penalty spot. Kerry Sadd's own goal two minutes after the break put the outcome beyond doubt, and Harrison heaped more misery on Linpac with his second after a fine solo run.
Tim Spirit moved the Wanderers tally onto six with a brace of goals, before Simon Weston completed the rout thanks to some assistance from goalkeeper Scott Carrick.
JB Lions continued their surge up the table with a 3-1 win over second from bottom Fox and Hounds.
The Foxes took a first half lead when Gary Harold converted a Chris Bishop cross, only for the visitors to level matters before the break thanks to a superb 30 yard volley from Al Craven.
Alex McGlone fired home following a goalmouth scramble to put the Lions in front for the first time, before the same player wrapped up the points with his second of the match.
