SCHOOLCHILDREN in west Wiltshire have been showing off their road safety knowledge through a district-wide quiz designed to save lives.
The west Wiltshire area road safety quiz, now in its 15th year, was held last week at The Mead School in Trowbridge.
The competition, which is based on the junior version of the Highway Code, was won for the second year running by Hilperton School with team members Ryan Gunning, Jordan Reece, and Vera Carbin scooping £20 worth of vouchers each.
The first round of the competition saw 1,694 pupils from 33 schools taking part, with 27 schools entering teams in the final.
Maureen Riddle, assistant road safety officer at Wiltshire County Council, said: "The real prize for road safety is life. That is what we are aiming for."
Shaw School came second in the quiz with St Mary's, Broughton Gifford third.
