THIS YEAR'S Lions Club charity fun run and 10km race was truly a family affair.
Rosemary Barber, the first woman to cross the line of the 10km race on Sunday, was supported by her 83-year-old mother, Dorothy Amor, who walked the fun run course.
And there was double success for a family from Yate.
Simon Spedding won the 10km race, while his 11-year-old daughter Ashlie came first in the fun run.
A delighted Mr Spedding said: "I used to be a member of the local Avon Valley running club when I lived in Trowbridge and although I now live in Yate I like to return to the town to support the runs."
Both events start and finish at Longfield Community Centre in Trowbridge.
This year the race was kicked off by Trowbridge town crier Trevor Heeks, who was also celebrating his birthday.
More than 70 runners took part in the 10km race and proceeds from both events will go towards the Bath Cancer Unit appeal.
