POLICE say teenagers camping out near Marlborough Town Football Club were responsible for two huge explosions that woke families shortly after 4am on Sunday, March 24.
Police received a number of calls from alarmed householders in the east side of the town after they were woken by two loud bangs.
One Elcot Lane resident said: "The flashes which preceded the bangs were bright enough to light up our bedroom."
Officers from Marlborough police station went to the Elcot Lane area and found that the disruption had been caused by teenagers camping out who had let-off two fireworks.
PC Andy Sexton said: "We found they had been caused by local youths who were camped out there who decided to let off some fireworks. They were suitably advised."
