PUPILS at Mill School in Potterne really got into their roles last week when they performed Trolls by northern composer and playwright Peter Skellern.
Skellern, best known for his hit song She's A Lady, had written the hilarious fairytale, in which a heroic young troll rescues a beautiful troll princess from the clutches of an evil goblin and marries her, the couple living happily ever after in a gnome of their own.
The zany story was liberally laced with music.
Deputy headteacher Sylvia Parry, who directed the show, said: "It was such good fun and we had lovely comments from the parents. It's certainly one of the most successful productions we've put on at the school."
The pupils not only acted and sang but were responsible for the design and building of the set. The singing was accompanied by teacher Katriona Field on piano.
Mrs Parry said: "It was just what the children needed after their hard work this term. After their entrance exams for independent secondary schools it was an opportunity for them to do something completely different."
Mrs Parry is already thinking about next year's show, which could be A Midsummer Night's Dream.
