DEVIZES has once more become the centre of attention in the gourmet world with the town's TV chef Peter Vaughan using the facilities at his health food shop and caf as the backdrop for a new series on healthy eating.

Mr Vaughan, who runs the Healthy Life store in the Little Brittox and has starred in many food programmes on satellite and cable channels, is filming the series with the BBC Food channel.

As part of the show, the film crew visited Mr Vaughan's suppliers to see how the ingredients for his recipes were sourced, including apiarist Bill Portch's bee hives and greengrocer David Erwood's allotments.

Mr Vaughan said: "That is the benefit of being in a county like Wiltshire, being so close to the producers of such high-quality food. I have always believed that it is possible to eat well, eat healthily, but have an enjoyable meal at the end of it.

"I think it is important, too, to recognise all the hard work put in by the people who produce organic food. It is not easy and I am glad to be able to give them the publicity they deserve."

Mr Vaughan took part in the recent Fairtrade fortnight when foods that give a fair deal to producers in the Third World was highlighted.
