POLICE in Marlborough are appealing for witnesses following an incident in which homes in London Road were peppered with paint balls.
PC Mark Kuklinski, who is investigating Saturday night's incident, said: "This was a very unusual crime and one which could have been dangerous if a person had been struck by one of the paint balls."
The paint pellets struck the fronts of four homes in the terrace opposite the London Road Post Office, breaking a £20 pane of glass in one of the doors.
It happened at about 8pm and police believe the pellets were probably fired from a gun used in the popular outdoor combat game played at a number of centres in the area.
PC Kuklinski said he believes the paint balls were fired from a passing car and, as it was a relatively busy time of the evening with people walking to the pubs and clubs, it was possible that witnesses saw the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Kuklinski at Marlborough police station (01672) 512311.
