THE Swindon Town Supporters' Trust believes the club's directors must do more than simply acknowledge its existence.

Members of TrustSTFC are growing increasingly frustrated at the board's unwillingness to let them play an active role in the fight for survival.

Trust representatives were expected to meet Bob Holt today to stress the need for greater cooperation.

Essentially, the Trust will not accept being viewed as just a 'spectator' by the club.

A fighting fund is being established to bag up expertise with hard cash.

TrustSTFC chairman Tony Norris said: "This club really is up a creek without a paddle. The Trust aim to provide a paddle so we can steer this club to safety.

"We have been watching from the sidelines and listening to what has been said by the club. Although we understand the position of the club, we feel that we need a more active role.

"We are no longer prepared to sit back and watch. We want to be involved in the action.

"The advantage of having the Trust is that we can call on the expertise of Supporters Direct, the organisation which has had principle roles in saving various clubs.

"Although the board have been open with us, they are missing a trick in that they have not asked for our participation in saving the club.

"Supporters have a great record of saving their clubs and we know that Swindon Town supporters can rise to the challenge."

The fighting fund is already underway but fans will have their first real chance to show support at Saturday's match with Blackpool.

Mr Norris said: "There are two things the Trust would ask of anyone who considers themselves a fan. Firstly, come to the match on Saturday. Secondly, bring all your spare cash. The Trust will be there to collect it."
