DANNY INVINCIBLE will not give Steve McMahon a second thought as he bids to sink the Seasiders tomorrow.

The 22-year-old was the subject of a transfer bid from Blackpool earlier in the campaign but the offer was considered derisory and quickly rejected.

Manager Andy King felt there was nothing to be gained for the player or the club by letting him go to Bloomfield Road.

The Brisbane man insists the transfer talk was not really unsettling because he had no intention of swapping Wiltshire for the seaside.

He said: "I am an ambitious player and eventually I want to play at the highest level.

"Of course it's good to know you are appreciated by someone else but I want to look upwards not sideways."

Invincible celebrates his 23rd birthday 24 hours after the Blackpool game and he is looking to start the celebrations early.

He said: "I do not feel as though I have anything to prove to Steve McMahon. All I am interested in is helping Swindon Town get three points.

"Obviously I would love to get on the scoresheet but not because I want to make a point to their manager. I just want to get a step closer to my target of ending the season with double figures."

A winning goal would certainly help banish the memories of a last minute penalty miss at Bloomfield Road earlier in the season.

He said: "It was obviously disappointing not to hit the target that day but you just have to hold your head up and get on with the next game."

With six games remaining, Invincible wants consistency as well as goals.

He said: "It has been another year on the learning curve for me. There have been good spells and bad spells.

"The frustrating thing is that I know what I am capable of, it's just a question of producing it more consistently.

"No-one is more annoyed than me when things do not go right for me in a match.

"I know the manager would like all the strikers to have scored more goals and it hasn't been for the want of trying.

"Hopefully, the goals will go hand in hand with the consistency next season."

As for transfer speculation. Invincible accepts it is all part of the game and you can never say never in football.

He said: "I am happy at Swindon Town but you never know what can happen. If an offer from a bigger club came in then I'm sure the gaffer would let me know and I would have to consider it.

"But the final decision rests with Danny Invincible. It is my career and I have to do what I think is best for me."
