BUTCHER Keith Crump left competitors with a sour taste in their mouths after scooping top prize at an industry awards ceremony in Birmingham.
Retired Keith, 63, and son Andy, 37, from Wootton Bassett were handed a platinum award for their delicious homemade steak and kidney pies.
They were invited along to the event, at Birmingham NEC, after already receiving the prestigious gold award for their mouth-watering sausages and kebabs.
The annual awards are organised by the Meat and Livestock Commission (MLC) which is the main governing body in charge of the meat industry.
Keith said: "It's nice to see the industry recognising us because there were hundreds of entries in lots of different categories. But we really hit the jackpot with our home made pies."
His shop, which is based in High Street, Wootton Bassett, has been trading for 17 years. Keith began learning the trade from his father in Oxfordshire and he set up his own shop in 1985. Following retirement, he passed on the business to son Andy. They employ eight staff along with Keith's wife Jean.
As well as award winning pies, Andy can also boast 30 different varieties of sausage including the ever-popular 'Bassett Banger'.
He said: "Our products are bought by people from youngsters to pensioners."
