The Bristol Aero Collection hangar at Kemble airfield is re-opening for the summer with unique examples of Bristol Aviation and space heritage dating back 90 years. The collection includes the Bristol Type 173 twin engine tandem rotor helicopter, on loan from the RAF museum and first flown in 1952.
The large, modern helicopter has been in store for over 40 years and will now be on display for the first time alongside the Sycamore, which was the first British designed and built helicopter to be awarded a certificate for being airworthy. Other new additions include a Concorde engine broken down into its component parts and by courtesy of Airbus UK, a model of the Airbus A3XX.
The collection is open to the public at Kemble airfield through to Easter Monday and then every Sunday and bank holiday until October 27.
