At the grand age of 80, Doris and Doug Webb are looking forward to celebrating their Diamond Wedding on Thursday and never a cross word.
Doris first met her husband-to-be at a party when she was 19.
"We were complete strangers. But he took a shine to me and two years later he asked me to marry him," she said.
Born and raised in Swindon, the retired couple now live in Queensfield and enjoy taking life at a leisurely pace.
Doris said: "We don't get out much. But we do occasionally go to church. Although I don't always see eye to eye with Doug, we have never had a row. We still like watching the soaps, especially Eastenders and Coronation Street."
Her husband, Doug, served in the army as a gunner during the war. He then went on to work as a railway maintenance worker.
Doris said: "The secret of a successful marriage is give and take. We have always looked after each other, even when things are looking far from rosy." Doris and Doug plan to celebrate the special occasion with family, including their two children, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Doris said: "There should be 30 of us at the party. We are having a buffet and will be able to talk about old times."
