ANDY KING believes Town are well on course for his 60 point target after Blackpool were beaten far more convincingly than the scoreline suggests.

The County Ground boss felt his team could have won 5-0, having dominated the clash with the Seasiders.

He said: "There is still a lot to play for. I would not accept anyone just going through the motions.

"Sixty points is a realistic target and I would rather finish 10th in the league than 18th.It will say to the powers that be, let's try and build on this.

"We totally outplayed Blackpool. The first half was as one-sided a contest.

"We were on top for so long. If we score the first goal then we win the game.

"As the game went on, Steve McMahon made his changes and threw caution to the wind a little bit. Without the cushion of a second goal you do worry slightly but in the end, justice was ours."

King was delighted with the team play which led to Alan Young's first goal for the club.

He said: "If Danny Invincible had not taken on the last defender by using his tremendous pace, then he might not have picked out Alan Young.

"But if Danny and Eric Sabin knock the ball into space and run, there's no-one that can stay with them.

"On this occasion, Danny made a positive run, looked up and picked out Alan Young.

"Alan is a goalscorer. If he gets chances then he will take them. He scored the winning goal that we deserved as a team."

The manager said it was not an entirely faultless display.

He said: "At the end we lost a little bit of discipline and that's annoying. It is laziness of mind rather than body though."

"But overall all the departments worked well. Matty Heywood and Adam Willis haven't lost a header all game.

"David Duke has done a job at left back and the midfielders have covered a lot of ground."

But where Steve McMahon praised the referee, King felt Trevor Parkes had not had a good afternoon.

He said: "I thought the referee was weak. There could have been three players sent off on their side."

Victory stretched the unbeaten home record to five matches, with the club having lost just once in their last eight outings at the County Ground.

King said: "I told the players at half time that it was important to keep the run going and to create something of a stronghold here. Thankfully they responded and we got the result everyone wanted."

Town's Under 19s had an impressive 3-2 win over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday in the Merit League.
