ADAM WILLIS was delighted with three important points and a clean sheet following victory over the Seasiders.
The former Coventry City man said it had been an afternoon where defenders had needed to retain their concentration.
He said: "The lads in attack were doing great but as defenders you have to make sure you don't switch off.
"But I think we played some of the best football we've produced this season.
"The midfield linked well with the attack and it was great to see Alan Young get off the mark.
"Is he old enough to have a drink?
"But it won't go to his head. The older lads won't allow it.
"He is a neat and tidy lad on the pitch and neat and tidy lad off it as well."
As for today's trip to Stoke, Willis is confident Town can avoid a repeat of last year's 4-1 thrashing.
He said: Confidence was low and we had escaped relegation by the skin of our teeth. Hopefully we can put on a much better performance this time."
Central defensive partner Matt Heywood was also content after the Blackpool clash.
He said: "I thought we played well apart from the first five minutes when we were sloppy.
"We had plenty of strikes and until they pushed a few more players forward towards the end, I didn't think they looked like scoring.
"But I think we could have had two or three goals.
"There was good movement up front. Alan Young did really well again. Danny and Eric caused problems with their pace and when the three of them are working well, you are going to create chances."
The only scare for Heywood came four minutes from time when Graham Fenton almost nipped in between himself and Bart Griemink to pinch a point.
He said: "It was one of those balls at an awkward height. I couldn't kick it or head it. I just tried to block off Fenton so Bart could come and collect it."
Heywood believes mathematical safety could be the key for the players to really push for a high finish but without the pressure of needing points.
He said: "Like the gaffer said, it would be nice to get over 60 points.
"Stoke will be another tough game. They lost against Brentford and they need the points to make the play-offs.
"It should be a good, competitive game.
