THE date is January 1, 2012. In just a few weeks the Queen will celebrate her Diamond Jubilee.
Plans are being made for the Queen to mark this historic occasion by a series of special events. In March, the Queen will commence her celebrations with a review of all the Navy's warships, moored since June of last year in the Royal Navy dockyard at Portsmouth.
In April, the Queen will visit the Royal Air Force air transport unit at Brize Norton, Oxfordshire. However, there will be no flypast. All RAF aircraft have been grounded since early December.
Fictitious? Speculation? I think not. Such events could happen in Britain and the evidence is available now.
Not long ago, Portugal discovered that being a member of the EU was beneficial and the economy was booming. Boom has now turned to bust.
The Portuguese Navy has been recalled to port because there is no money to pay for the fuel needed to keep the ships at sea.
The European Union was supposed to bring peace and prosperity to the people of Europe.
Gradually it is becoming clear that the experiment will not work unless and until all the countries of Europe are formed into a single superstate with a central government and president.
If this should ever happen, there will be no way back without a fight which could mean war!
Joining the single currency, the example, is irreversible according to European treaties.
National governments will be reduced to providing services similar to those of our own borough council.
In 2012 the Queen may have an occasion to celebrate but will the rest of us be rejoicing with her?
