ANDY KING will be looking to beef up his side during the summer in order not to be muscled out of Second Division success.
The Town boss feels his team is losing out to less talented but physically tougher teams and it is causing him some concern.
If the Second Division is a school playground, King does not want Town to be the ones having their dinner money pinched.
The County Ground boss felt Stoke City's superior strength contributed to their 2-0 triumph at the Britannia Stadium yesterday.
He said: "The worry for me is that they were not better than us but they were physically stronger. It is something that I was aware of last season and the same is true this time around as well."
But the other glaringly obvious problem for King remains the lack of goals.
In 42 matches this season, Town have netted just 43 goals. But the manager is getting irritated at people pointing out the obvious to him.
He said: "I am fed up with saying it. I have to come up with a goalscorer.
"I have no money and I am looking for someone to get me 20 goals a season. I am looking for the impossible but I will not give up on the mission to unearth one.
"But believe me, there are Premiership managers out there with £10 million to spend and they cannot find a striker.
"However, when the board sort out this administration situation, they have promised me that there might be some help.
"Then I will stand to be counted on any decisions that I make with regard to spending money on players."
For the time being, King must persevere with his present squad and he used the Stoke game to experiment.
That meant a first start for reserve keeper Richard McKinney.
The former Manchester City man did not keep the clean sheet he had hoped for, but was nonetheless happy with his first outing.
He said: "Once I had collected my first cross, I felt okay.
"But then again, I seemed to get clattered every time I went for a cross.
"At half time, it looked as though the clean sheet might be on but sadly it wasn't to be.
"I was happy with a couple of stops I made but it was obviously disappointing to lose, as it is any game.
"I do feel some relief though. There is always some worry before your debut and I'm glad to have the first game under my belt. Hopefully I will get another start before the end of the season."
Town's reserves travel to Southend United tomorrow in the Avon Insurance Combination. A French trialist will be among the party making the trip to Essex. The match kicks off at 2pm.
