A TRIO of Swindon nurseries have won awards for the high standard of their food.
Swindon Mayor Coun David Cox presented Heartbeat Awards to the catering managers of the Jigsaw Nursery branches in Abbey Meads, Windmill Hill and Broome Manor.
This nationally recognised award scheme honours schools and other catering establishments for the provision of good and hygienic food.
"They've certainly earned these awards," said council environmental health education officer Eunice Salmon. "They're encouraging healthy eating habits as youngsters grow up".
The award-winning recipes, specially devised for the under-fives, include lamb sunshine bake, fish and sweet pepper risotto, veggie pasta and chocolate orange sponge with chocolate sauce.
Schools and catering establishments interested in the awards should contact Eunice on (01793) 466276.
