THERE were some great weights in the Wednesday Veterans match held at Bourton-on-the-Water carp lake.

The lowest weight recorded of the 13 who fished was 28lb, with the winner, Mick Robins, taking an estimated 40 fish bag that weighed a marvellous 98lb.

Mick took his fish from the well -known tree swim and had to kneel under the tree, fishing a short pole with pellet in the hook.

Second was Dale Sole with 66lb. He was followed by Ricky Spiteri 56lb, Paul Hunt 49lb, Pete Sole 48lb, Sid Webb 43lb, Cliff Brown 42 1/2 lb and Bomber Spinsbury 39lb.

Cotswold Angling are again holding their very popular open matches on Wednesday's at Tockenham Lake. These are being held on the venue on April 10, 17 and 24. £13 all in. Register on 01793 721173.

A new rule is in force for match anglers fishing Ivy House Lake Open or club matches. All anglers in future must take two keepnets with them as a precaution against having any fish mortalities.

note that as from April 1, all anglers require a new National River Authority Rod Licence. These are available from Post Offices.

Renewal of Plaums Pit AC. New season membership are now available from House of Angling (Commercial Road), Swindon Angling Centre and Hinders.

Permit charges for renewals are adults £18, juniors, OAPs and concessionary £9.

All members must produce their old permit to obtain a new one.

Wootton Bassett AC trophy winners from the previous season are asked to return them to Stan Roper as soon as possible. Also Wootton Bassett members please note that their club waters will remain open until May 31.

New membership cards will be required from June 1 when the club waters re-open.

The final North Wessex Winter League match will be held at Bedwyn on April 14. Draw at the Cross Keys public house at 8am. Prize presentation after the event.

The league's AGM will be held two weeks later than normal May 14 at Ferndale Road WMC.
