THE World Cup may be a few months away, but kids from Swindon are already being given the chance to emulate their favourite football players on a Soccer Skills venture at the Croft Leisure Centre in Old Town.
The short activity week gives youngsters ample time to practise their Beckham free kicks during training sessions running from 10am to 3pm.
The 12 children on the course, aged between five and 11, will be tested on a variety of soccer skills that will be rewarded at the end of the week.
Kirk McGinn, 18, a qualified football coach will test the children on six essential skills according to the FA-approved Soccer Star Scheme. Sally Hawson, whose son Zak, seven, is taking part, said: "It is outdoor play in the fresh air, when kids would otherwise be on the Playstation."
