CHARITY minded Commonweal school pupil, Amy Busson, managed to persuade her friends and teachers to hold a non-uniform day to raise much needed cash for a good cause.
The 15-year-old, from Hughes Street, Rodbourne managed to drum up £314.33 for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
Amy, who has her sights set on becoming a vet when she leaves school, chose the charity because of her love of animals and because she agreed with her friends that it was a worthwhile cause.
And last week, she handed over the cheque to community coordinator Marilyn Sydenham and one of the beneficiaries of the charity Mike Sullivan, with his dog Flint.
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a registered charity that trains dogs to alert severely and profoundly deaf people to sounds they cannot hear such as the alarm clock, baby cry, smoke alarm and many others.
