THE colour and pageantry of the first bloom of summer was brought to Minety Pre-School when pupils per-formed a traditional Maypole dance.
The 24 children at the school, clutching red and yellow ribbons and dressed colourfully, skipped around a tree in the pre-school grounds, watched by around 30 parents.
The children performed two 15-minute slots, half performing at a time.
While half were doing the Maypole routine, the other half were dancing through hoops that they had made.
"They were brilliant and it looked very colourful, plus we were fortunate with the weather," said pre-school supervisor Jennie White.
The children had been practising all week for the traditional dance, and Mrs White was delighted with the results, and said the parents were too.
"The parents thought it was superb," she added.
Now the pre-school, which last year was awarded the Government's Charter Mark Award for Excellence in care within the community, is gearing up for its open week.
The week takes place between June 17 and 22, and parents looking at sending children to the pre-school, or ones with children there already, will be able to come along and have a look. To find out more call Mrs White on 01666 860796 or 07816 419970.
