SWINDON Town's season might be at an end but the County Ground was still in action at the weekend when it played host to the third annual Trish Dow Memorial Football Tournament.
Four teams from the Nationwide Building Society came to raise money for cancer research and remember Trish, who died of breast cancer in 1999.
Her son Paul Shopland was a semi-professional footballer and Trish was his biggest fan, following whichever team he played for.
She became a fixture at Nationwide when Paul played for the work team, becoming a firm favourite with the players as their number one supporter.
Mr Shopland, 34, of Taw Hill, said: "When mum died the players at Nationwide said they wanted to hold a tournament in her memory, and it has been a great success ever since.
"My mum would have loved to come along and see this. She was always our most vociferous supporter and loved the social side."
It is hoped the tournament will raise more than £2,000, to be split between Macmillan Cancer Relief and Cancer Research UK.
