I SEE FOEPAS (Friends of the Earth Personal Advice Service) is at it again. Perhaps FOEPAS could elaborate on just where the brownfield sites are in Swindon which could be used for several thousands of low cost houses.
Practically all sites in Old Town are either now built on or bespoken.
Most of the resulting flats will be far too expensive for new purchasers due to the costs of developing this land.
I cannot believe that there is an area of brownfield site in Swindon which would equate in size to that of the so called Front Garden together with that of the Blunsdon Triangle.
Continuing Government policy requires brownfield site development to be prioritised over greenfield.
No one wants our greenfields to disappear: it is a question of basic human need and cost. We all have to live somewhere.
Many prospective residents of Swindon would no doubt welcome the chance to live in a nice place in the country and if development of our Front Garden is eventually forced upon us they should be able to do so at reasonable cost and, with proper planning, share it amicably with existing flora and fauna.
