Re: the report of the proposed war memorial.

There have been up to about 20 conflicts since the end of World War II in which British service people have died about 3,500 in total.

I think that any memorial should remember all who died, not only the people from this area.

Those of us who served in these so called "police actions" felt for the people who died, wherever they came from.

We have had one year since World War II when there hasn't been conflict involving our armed forces; now Tony's thinking of having a go at Iraq as well as Afghanistan. I sometimes think that politicians have got shares in the bodybag companies.

The Americans had 30,000 killed in Vietnam and 100,000 wounded. Their veterans were promised money from the chemical companies who made the Agent Orange defoliant. Still waiting?

As I understand it, no names are allowed on a cenotaph. Is the council intending to put all the conflicts' Killed In Action on the commemoration wall?
