ENGINEER Mike Flory is swapping the comforts of his life in Wiltshire for a trek in Tibet.
Mr Flory, 36, of Fishers Brook, Calne, is training for an eight-day hike to the 14th highest mountain in the world on the Tibetan plateau, Xishapangma.
His trek will raise money for the Meningitis Trust.
"For a number of years I did the Three Peaks challenge and had always supported the work of the Meningitis Trust," he said.
"The trust was offering this opportunity of a lifetime and it was a personal challenge for me.
"I am slightly apprehensive you never know what to expect when going into the unknown."
The trekkers flew to Kathmandu on May 6. Mr Flory, who has been training for six months for the trek, is hoping to raise £3,000.
