AUSTRALIAN Shaun Hilliard made an immediate impression on his Devizes debut, finishing unbeaten on 66 as the visitors clinched victory by seven wickets.

The home side elected to bat first on a damp wicket, but were immediately subjected to a hostile spell of bowling from Ashford-Brown.

Only Fenney managed to provide any resistance to an on-song Devizes attack, scoring 32 as his side collapsed to 118 all out.

Paul Vooght and Andy Hodder claimed four wickets apiece.

Newly-promoted Devizes made a shaky start in reply, but Hilliard's half century steadied the ship with help from fellow league debutant Alex Muse. The duo brought the total to within 40 runs of victory before Vooght capped a fine performance by hammering the winning runs with a six.

Devizes entertain Swindon on Saturday.
