LORD Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Sir Maurice Johnston, presented long service and good conduct medals to ten officers at an award ceremony at police headquarters in Devizes on Thursday.
Among them was PC Adrian Wells from Devizes, currently serving with the Air Support Unit at the London Road headquarters but who has been a beat constable at Devizes and other police stations.
Other officers to receive their awards from Sir Maurice were PC Stuart Bishop from Pewsey, PC Lynne Carter from Wilton, Sergeant Graham Devine from Swindon, Inspector Robert Markham from Swindon, PC Philip Messam from Melksham, Sergeant Paul Mundy from Swindon, Sergeant David Scott from Chippenham and PC George Wheeler from Westlea, Swindon.
High Sheriff Sir Christopher Benson presented a judge's commendation to Det Sgt William Walker who also received a Chief Constable's certificate of merit from Elizabeth Neville. She also presented certificates of commendation to PC David Garrod and PC Peter Jung.
The Police Authority Trophy was presented to PC Dennis Taylor from Swindon by Bertie Woolnough, chairman of the police authority.
Miss Neville then presented support staff long service certificates and gift vouchers to Elizabeth Church of Salisbury and Ann Toombs of Wootton Bassett, and a certificate of appreciation to member of the public, Mandy Palframan.
The John Rennie Thomson Memorial Fund book prize was presented to PC John Wyeth of Wilton.
