MID-WILTSHIRE SUNDAY LEAGUE: SELECTABOOK lifted the Tamura Hinchley Shield for the fifth year in a row as Marcus Wallen's second half goal proved enough to see off the challenge of Devizes Snooker Club in Sunday's final at Nursteed Road.
The league champions almost took the lead in the sixth minute when Paul Machin clipped a post with just Snooker Club goalkeeper Steve Watters to beat.
A 30-yard drive from Craig Smith then whistled over the Selectabook crossbar, before Watters produced three fine saves from Wallen to keep the scores level.
Ben Drake was twice denied by Selectabook goalkeeper Neil Doran before the interval, but the breakthrough came on 64 minutes when Wallen chipped a defender before volleying past Smith for the only goal of the game.
The Snooker Club pressed for an equaliser and Doran palmed a shot from Lloyd Sartin wide with 15 minutes remaining, before a Craig Townsend effort flew just over the bar seconds later.
But Selectabook held on for victory and added the Shield to their Mid Wilts League and John Strickland Memorial Cup successes last month.
Steve Sartin of Selectabook was awarded the man of the match trophy, while officials Bob Heywood, Ian Currie and Derek Holder were also presented with awards by Les Kenwood of Shield sponsors Linpac.
JB Lions lifted the Roundway Cup for the first time in their history at the same venue on Sunday morning as a flurry of late goals gave them a 4-1 win over Trowbridge Wanderers.
Mick Rogers bagged a hat-trick for the winners, with Alec McGlone also on target.
Ollie Turner might have given Wanderers the lead early on, but his shot from Nick Harrison's cross drifted wide of the target.
McGlone and Nick Tate went close with headers at either end, before Turner opened the scoring for Wanderers on 27 minutes when he charged down a clearance from Lions goalkeeper Colin Smith.
Rogers soon levelled matters for the Lions following a McGlone throughball, while Turner was denied a second goal by Smith early in the second half.
McGlone put the Lions in front with 14 minutes left and Rogers put the game beyond the Trowbridge side with two well-taken goals in the space of five minutes.
Pete Smith of cup sponsors Cereal Partners UK presented man of the match McGlone and officials David Pound, Derek Holder and Eric Clifford with their awards at the final whistle.
The league's presentation ceremony took place after the second of the Sunday's finals and award winners were: champions, Selectabook; runners-up, The Dolphin; top referee, Ian Currie; top club referee, John Windess; top secretary: Andy Buller (Bell by the Green); top club linesman: Chris Sharpe (Trowbridge Wanderers); top goalscorer: Jonathan Emm (The Dolphin); most sporting club, Trowbridge Wanderers.
