STRATTON Crosslink and Wroughton fought out a thrilling end-of-season game at Kingsdown with the home side needing just one point for the runners-up spot in the Premier Division and Wroughton needing all three.
Despite attacking for most of the game, Wroughton were held to a 1-1 draw, enabling Crosslink to finish second behind champions Shrewton United.
A penalty after just two minutes was just the start the home side needed, Gerry Wright netting from the spot.
For the rest of the half Wroughton dominated and only some stout defending by the Crosslink back four of Michael Harper, Martin Pope, Dave Kearley and Richard Pearson held them at bay.
After the break Wroughton continued to push forward and gained a deserved equaliser ten minutes from time through Richard Bruce to ensure a hectic finish to the game.
Man-of-the-match was the home keeper Lee Wilson who made some excellent stops from Wroughton's Glenn Armstrong and Richard Bruce in the second half.
