PLANS by Hills Waste to build a household recycling centre at its site in Compton Bassett are to be debated by Wiltshire County Council on Wednesday.
The waste firm wants to introduce the household recycling centre, extend composting facilities and make a small extension at the top of the site.
The application will be looked at by councillors on the regulatory committee at county hall in Trowbridge on Wednesday at 10.30am.
At the time of the application last November Hills Waste management director Mike Webster said if it was allowed, the centre could be up and running by next summer.
He said it would be a similar size to the facility at Stanton St Quintin and is part of a contract with Wiltshire County Council to provide for recycling.
Hills already operates a landfill site at Compton Bassett. On the same site is a materials recycling facility, where items are recycled from across Wiltshire.
Belinda Boyd, of the Friends of Compton and Surrounds, said the group would be laying on transport to take people to Trowbridge and expected up to 30 people to make the trip.
Mrs Boyd has urged councillors to turn the plan down, saying it should not be considered until the Draft Waste Local Plan for 2011 is agreed.
Last week, Hills was told to clean up at the Compton Bassett site after an investigation revealed a fly infestation.
