BENTLEY Grammar School's class of '57 travelled from all over Europe for a musical reunion in Calne's St Mary's Church.
It was 41 years since the school choir sang Faure's Requiem under the baton of Bryan Barnes, a then newly-qualified music master who had joined the school to knock it into musical shape.
The school went on to win many prizes in local and national competitions.
So enthusiastic were the pupils, that many of them from the class of '57 still sing in concerts up and down the country.
On Saturday, Mr Barnes returned to Calne from Mallorca, where he is now living, in order to conduct the singers.
He found that others too had travelled far and wide to take part in the reunion.
John Gibson, who was the original organist, took time off from his job as a consultant neurologist in Devon, to accompany the singing.
The former biology master John Darke, who sang the original baritone solo, returned to take the solo part.
Miriam Darke sang the Pie Jesu.
The reunion was organised by Pat Duncan, nee Kerbey, from Hertfordshire.
