A TEAM of men and women plan to keep darts in the air for 24 hours non-stop in a marathon at the Marlborough Town Football Club to raise funds for the Breakthrough breast cancer charity.

It's the second year the marathon has been organised and those taking part hope to exceed the £3,000 they made last year.

The event was started last year in memory of Josie Crome from Marlborough who died from cancer, and many of those taking part were close friends.

Organiser Rose Martin said: "We made £3,000 last year and we are confident we can beat it this time."

The darts marathon will take place on the golden jubilee weekend, starting at 7pm on the Saturday evening.

On May 24 a local band, South West Central, will be playing at a dance at the Marlborough Town club, in aid of Breakthrough. Tickets, £3, from the club or from Mrs Martin on (01672 5162240. She will also accept sponsorship for the marathon.
