DEVIZES' Major Wrecks, the male majorettes who raise money for the charity Contact a Family, say it could be their last season if they fail to get more recruits to don tutu and tights and dance with them.
The Wrecks are still as popular as ever, but with only 17 beefy blokes they find themselves increasingly stretched to fulfil their bookings.
Carol Glenister, one of the organisers, said: "If we don't get more people, this will have to be our last season. It will be difficult for Contact a Family to raise enough to give the disabled children the facilities they need."
Last year the Wrecks handed over a cheque for £5,000.
Liz Smith, the Wrecks' choreographer, said: "The more people we have, the less pressure will be on the rest to perform at every booking. We really need a squad of about 20 to 25. We have a hilarious time on the road but once the music starts up we are deadly serious."
