A FARMER at Easton Royal has been cautioned by police after he drove his 4x4 off-road vehicle at two men marshalling a trials bike event on Sunday.
Police said the farmer, who has not been named, was angered by the number of motorcycles passing through. The riders were taking part in an event organised by the Swindon and District Motorcycle Club and had official approval.
Sgt Andy Peach from Marlborough police station, who was helping to monitor the event, said: "The gentleman started by shouting at the two marshalls and then got into his vehicle and drove straight at them. The men were shaken but not injured.
"We have spoken to the farmer and warned him about his future conduct. No further action is anticipated."
The trials bike event co-incided with the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust's Sarsen Trail sponsored walk and Neolithic Marathon from Avebury to Stonehenge, also taking place on Sunday. Bikes were seen weaving in and out among walkers, including children and dogs, between Redhorn Hill and Marden Clump.
