LUCK was definitely on the side of Chris Toomey when he was picked out as the winner of a Volkswagen Polo in a raffle held by the Association for International Cancer Research (AICR).
Mr Toomey, of Plymouth Street, Swindon, bought one of 750,000 fifty pence tickets that had been sold by the charity to raise money for scientific research into the causes of cancer.
He was presented with the keys to the car at the Mann Egerton showroom, in Frankland Road.
AICR based in St Andrews, Scotland currently funds cancer research programmes in 20 countries around the world at an annual cost of some £7 million.
