WESTBURY travelled to Westinghouse for a Sunday friendly with a much weakened side, due to the fact that there was a rearranged 4th team league match at Westbury.

Westbury won the toss and decided to field first. Westinghouse started at a quick pace and lost their first wicket at 29, then there was a good partnership between Miles and Francis, who took the score to 114, when Miles was dismissed for a steady 25.

In the meantime Francis was scoring at a very rapid pace and eventually scored a good 100. Whilst he was scoring wickets were falling around him. At the end of 40 overs Westinghouse had scored a massive 251-8. Ian Pothecary took 2-70 and Davies 3-27. Francis scored 129.

Westbury took up the fight from the start.

They lost three early wickets when up came a partnership of 128, with the experienced pair of Andy Elliott and Adam Pothecary.

They took the total to 187, when Pothecary had to retire hurt, and with that went any chance Westbury had of winning the game.

It was at this time that history was made for Westbury, when young Daniel Gill, aged seven, son of the Westbury groundsman Gordon Gill, made his debut for the club.

In the meantime, Andy Elliott had scored a very good 100. He was eventually dismissed for 108.

At the end of the 40 overs, Westbury had scored 202 for six wickets.

Daniel Gill ended up with two not out having batted for seven minutes.
