A GANG of organised shoplifters has been targeting stores in Melksham.
The thieves, who originate from Bristol, have targeted up to six shops in the town in the last few months.
Police arrested a 19-year-old Bristol man on Saturday, may 4, after staff in Kwik Save, Market Place, detained him at the store on suspicion of shoplifting.
Police had to restrain him when he became abusive and violent.
After being interviewed at Melksham police station, the man was released on police bail until next month.
Police are linking this incident to five other similar shoplifting offences in Melksham.
