What a shocking day for us at Gloucester.

Just when you think you have seen it all this season, along comes that result and performance.

We just didn't perform on the day and even though we had our usual problem with injuries, we can't use that as much of an excuse.

To lose two key guys like Iain Balshaw and Mike Tindall before the match was tough.

But given the personnel we had available, we still had enough good players there to put in a respectable performance which we didn't by any means.

All the nervousness of the last two or three months came out in one afternoon.

But all credit to Gloucester. I don't think they should be overshadowed. It was a great performance by them.

After that defeat, Michael Foley had some strong words to say about our basic skills.

I've said all season that, as a squad and as a team, we've worked very hard to try and correct our position.

But on an individual basis, there needs to be more work.

I think a lot of the Southern Hemisphere guys who come across here are surprised by our basic skills and grasp of them.

A lot of players that were already playing at first team level have not acquired those skills by the time they get there.

That's something that will be corrected this summer there will be some long hours on the training field in coming months.

But the overriding factor against Wasps on Sunday has to be to bounce back from last week.

We have to give ourselves, the coaching staff and, crucially, the supporters some hope for next season.

We want to look forward to next year and at least try to end this campaign with a bit of a smile.
