A MIX of bungalows and houses in Warminster was expected to get approval at a council planning meeting on Thursday night, May 9.
Outline planning permission for eight dwellings on land at South Street and King Lane was granted last September.
Now the applicant, Penta Homes Limited, wants to build three bungalows, two one-and-a-half storey houses and three two-storey houses.
Access to two of these properties would be via King Lane.
But in a planning report, Warminster Town Council says the King Lane access is only suitable for pedestrians.
It also feels one of the plots should be examined by the Badger Conservation Trust and the local wildlife trust.
In the same report English Nature says care and vigilance should be exercised during the work and no fences should be erected that will force badgers onto the road.
A spokesman for West Wiltshire District Council said: "At approximately 22 dwellings per hectare, this development must be considered low density compared with recent government advice, and the layout makes appropriate concessions to the unusual nature of the site."
