COMPANY car drivers are unhappy with their image as aggressive and careless motorists, according to a recent report.

Research for Peugeot found that Company Car Man believes he is calm, thoughtful, mature and responsible.

But company car drivers were 50 per cent more likely to be involved in an accident than other motorists and two-thirds of the three million company cars in Britain were subject to an insurance claim every year.

Research found that company car drivers argued that the increased likelihood of being involved in an accident was in direct proportion to their high business mileage.

Rod Philpot, Peugeot's marketing director, said company car drivers were obviously keen to present a new image of themselves.

"Company Car Man, as we know him, may be about to reach the end of the road," he said.
