WE write to you on two accounts. One to highlight and draw to your readers' attention the many women and men in the area who are taking part in the Marathon and Half Marathon Moonwalk in London tomorrow to raise funds for breast cancer, and secondly to raise our concern over the attitude of a few small minded people who seem to think it highly amusing to shout rude and often abusive comments whilst we have been out training for the event.
This was demonstrated again last Friday when two 'gentlemen' in a van thought it very funny to watch us pass by them in a lay-by, make some comments regarding our attire and then follow us in their vehicle and offer 2p as a donation.
To these gentlemen we thank you for your donation all money is gratefully received, but through the pages of the Wiltshire Times can we just say in the unfortunate event that either you, yes it does happen to men, or anyone close to you suffers from breast cancer, that you reflect on the thousands of people throughout the country who have raised money to assist in the research and treatment of this dreadful disease compared to your own personal contribution and your eagerness to ridicule those who are prepared to raise funds in their own small way.
Finally, can we wish all Wiltshire Moonwalkers every success on the night.
TWO FEMALE WILTSHIRE WALKERS,
