I WRITE in response to the article "Row blows up over Roman Temple" (May 9). I would like to set things straight before the rest of Swindon thinks that everyone in Ash Brake and St Andrew's Ridge is a whinger!

I was at the meeting and it was not a "squabble". People in this area have a lot to put up with Lady Lane not being closed as quickly as it was going to be, huge changes to Thamesdown Drive, the building of Asda Walmart and the proposed Mcdonalds. We attended the meeting to have our say in proposals that could change our area by bringing in large groups of people and problems such as traffic.

We are very proud of what has been found almost literally in our back gardens but are concerned that the remains and our quiet area are preserved. We all want to see something constructive happen with the Roman remains.

I am sure we will get another chance to comment on more solid plans and look forward to that.
