HAVING read Bryant Homes' glossy pamphlet on the changes the proposed building of 3,800 new homes on Swindon's Front Garden will make to this town, I noticed there is no mention of the increase in pollution and illness.
Also, what about the increased crime resulting from population explosion?
Our Front Garden was lost many moons ago by previous councils for the want of city status.
Goddard bequeathed these lands to Swindon council for the recreation of the people of Swindon. Swindon has lost enough green spaces to the bulldozer. No matter which direction you travel, it's wall to wall brick and tarmac.
Yes, people have to live somewhere, but I feel there are plenty of empty office blocks and brownfield sites that should be considered first. How long before Wroughton, Wanborough and other surrounding villages are swallowed up?
