AN ENTERPRISING four-year-old who raised over £100 off his own back has been praised by the children's charity Barnardos.
Jason Cutler, from the nursery class at Seven Fields Primary School, in Penhill, received an extra-large certificate in recognition of his efforts.
And a letter from the charity said that Jason had raised more than any child who had entered the competition with his total of £113.
Jason was asked to collect sponsorship after drawing 16 objects which began with the letter B.
He started off by getting sponsorship from members of his family.
He then hit on a novel strategy for collecting cash further afield after accompanying his grandparents Sue and Graham to the working men's club on Gypsy Lane.
Mum Sally explained: "He came up with the idea of going down the local club with his nan and granddad. He went and asked all my dad's friends if they'd sponsor him he said if they would he'd give them a kiss."
"He said he wanted to collect about £80 but by the time he'd gone around the club as well he'd raised a lot more than that."
"I'm very proud of him."
Pupils at Seven Fields raised a total of £746 for the charity with the event.
