SWINDON College Old Boys skipper Greg O'Brien has called on the Rugby Football Union to agree on a settled structure at local level after seeing his side effectively demoted in yet another league shake-up.
The Old Boys will drop into Dorset & Wilts One from Southern Counties South next season despite apparently reaching safety by finishing third from bottom.
Ironically, the College enjoyed a better season than their previous two campaigns and reached the final of the Dorset & Wilts Shield.
And O'Brien said: "To be honest, we didn't expect this at all. We had heard rumours, but we also heard that no one would go down.
"The whole RFU needs to sort its structure out. I think it needs to be one up and one down with no play-offs, rather than them changing it every year.
"In the last two years, realistically we should have gone down but now we should have stayed up after having a better season.''
He added: "Our ambition is now to come straight back up. It's not a huge setback in terms of what we want to achieve and we have a plan in place.''
College will join Corsham and Cooper-Avon Tyres in Dorset & Wilts One.
The news was expected for both Corsham and Cooper Avon, who finished second bottom and bottom respectively in Southern Counties South.
Calne and Westbury both beaten by College last term move up to Southern Counties South.
Cricklade, Minety and Supermarine are all in Dorset & Wilts Two North.
