WOMEN in Bath are being urged to take part in a sponsored fun run to raise cash for research into cancer.
More than 1,000 women have signed on to take part in the Race for Life, which begins at the University of Bath sports village on Sunday June 9.
Participants are invited to walk or run the 5km course as there are no prizes for coming first only finishing.
Those taking part are asked to raise £50 each in sponsorship for the race, which hopes to reach a target of £75,000 for Cancer Research UK.
Last year's event raised more than £8m nationwide, with a quarter of a million women taking to the streets to raise money for the charity, a merger between Imperial Cancer Research Fund and the the Cancer Research Campaign.
Organiser Simon O'Leary said: "The work of the charity is always ongoing. We need money to put into research for women's cancer. Taking part in this walk not only sets the individual a challenge but also raises money for a very important cause."
Women can enter by calling 08705 134314 or online at www.raceforlife.co.uk
