A SPATE of car vandalism is hitting Swindon.
The offender is cutting fuel lines and siphoning petrol from Vauxhall cars parked in Rodbourne, Rodbourne Cheney and Moredon.
So far five cases have been reported in the past week.
Police suspect that the incidents are connected because the same make of cars are being targeted in the same areas.
Alvina Kumar, spokeswoman for Swindon police, said: "This is not, in general, an increasing problem.
"We suspect the same person is responsible for this theft.
"If the driver fails to notice this type of damage, it can be highly dangerous.
"Severed fuel lines may result in leakage, creating a fire hazard.
Fuel spillage can also make roads slippery.
Anyone with information regarding these incidents should call Swindon police on Swindon 528111.
