POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a racist attack in Swindon's Victoria Road.
A group of seven or eight white men hurled racist abuse at two young black men before assaulting them.
While crossing the road to help his brother, one of the black men was struck by a car and knocked to the ground.
The black car with tinted windows stopped briefly but drove off when the injured man got up.
Both black men were injured in the attack and police are searching for a white 6ft-tall man with black hair who was wearing a red shirt.
The attack, on Sunday at around 10.30pm, appears to be completely unprovoked and police are appealing for the occupants of the car or any witnesses to come forward.
Anyone with informat-ion is urged to call PC David Maundrell on Swindon 528111 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
